Pulp Boy is the story of Emerson LaSalle--the washed-up king of sci-fi paperbacks. LaSalle has avoided modern technology since the 1980's, convinced that it was ruining science fiction, but he learns that his publisher is dropping him because he's lost touch with the public. Apparently his books about android sex goddesses and lobster people from Uranus are not relevant to today's readers. He embarks on the adventure of his life to save his career by promoting one last great pulp novel. LaSalle's promotional tour takes a turn for the worst when he can't keep his big mouth shut, and keeps digging himself deeper and deeper into trouble finding himself pitted against enraged fans, violent old ladies, and his long-time nemesis and rival, Stone Q. Mann. The result is a hilarious romp through book stores, sci-fi conventions, and bars across the country as LaSalle flies by the seat of his pants to the end of one career, and the beginning of another...

LaSalle is not a real person, but he does exist in a very real way for many. He is of the same substance that makes up Pecos Bill, Paul Bunyan, and John Henry - a folk hero of sorts, though, perhaps an anti-hero on the surface. Just "Google" his name, and you will be greeted with thousands and thousands of fantastic quotes, stories, and "LaSalle-isms" that have grown over the years. A fantastic mozaic of his ficticious life has unfolded throughout the blogs, twitters, and web pages of those who love him, and now he is finally making his way to the big screen.
